Money Exchange?

I have German money from when my father was in the war over in germany, does any one know if I can turn it in for US money at a bank, and what would be the exchange value?

  1. you can't go to a bank, i don't think, i think there is a special 'bank' where you exchange money, but i can't think of what it's called.... I was in Rome and we had only 2 hours to spend looking arround, i only had american money, they wouldn't take it, so i sat in a bank, waiting in line for an hour, only to find out they dont' exchange money, so we went across the street, and it took 30 seconds for the other 'bank' to exchange it! That wasn't fun! Sorry i couldn't help more.
  2. When you say 'The War", I am assuming you mean World War II. If that is the case, your German money is a very interesting collectible, but has long since been demonetized. West Germany (Bundesrepublik Deutscheland) banknotes dated 1948 and later can still be redeemed.
  3. I will b of interest to collectors.. I kno a dealer who does good evaluation.. drop me a mail if u are interested...
